Students are encouraged to practice a variety of our yoga styles on offer at the studio allowing for deeper exploration of ones self and an opportunity to cultivate mindful living.

Why participate in the 30 Day Commitment?

There are many reasons to participate in a 30 Day commitment.

The 30 day commitment provides participants with the support and motivation of the Shiva Shakti community. As a group, participants are united and driven by a common goal.

Yoga practice provides many benefits physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual. Yoga supports you in a transformative journey by bringing you insight into self – the workings of the body and mind.

The teachers at Shiva Shakti will provide you with the guidance to explore and develop your potential.

I will be away during the 30 Day Commitment. What happens if I miss a class?

You have a number of options if you miss a class.

Within the 30 days, 22 classes need to be completed at Shiva Shakti (a minimum 5 classes per week). The other 8 classes can be completed at other studios (maximum 4 classes to count towards commitment) or completed as part of a home practice (up to 4 classes completed as a home practice).

No problem. You will be able to put your existing membership on hold for the month.

We will still honour the new student rate of $58 for your 1st month unlimited after the challenge.

These techniques can improve circulation and allow the joints and organs to function at their optimum health, thus effectively and efficiently leaving your feeling energized, nourished and healed. Saturday 9:00-12:00 Session - Journey through the Five Elements.

In this workshop session, we will about the energetic layers of being (5 koshas), and how they operate in our lives. This holistic practice will take you through a short repeated sequence on an ever deepening journey through the layers. As we complete the bliss layer, we will enjoy a spontaneous relaxation and meditation. As usual with Vishva ji's holistic Akhanda Yoga classes, this class will include asana, pranayama, visualization, relaxation and meditation.

 Saturday 2:00-5:00

Hip Opening Akhanda Flow Session: Theme – Root and Sacral Chakras

Reemoving energy obstacles and flowing through stuck emotions.

Discussion: Water, movement, going with the flow. What does it mean, and when should we resist habitual patterns and consciously create new ones. Recent research in neuroplasticity confirms what Patanjali mentions in the Yoga Sutra (I:…) When a pattern is dysfunctional we can “cultivate the opposite” and literally re-create our reality, sculpt the flow of our lives.

Activity: Mantra practices and Closing Mantra

Sunday 9:00-12:00 Session

Fire Puja followed by Classical Kundalini Class:

In this class we will explore oscillating movements, postures, mantra, and both dynamic and integrative pranayama techniques. We will also work with chakra visualizations and seed sounds – the rich symbolism of the Tantra tradition. The flow of the class will be particularly geared towards the theme of the Navel and Heart Chakras, and Fire and Air.

Discussion: The meaning of fire and light in yoga. Exploring what arose in the class, pranayama explanations, and the energetic doorway/movement from the navel to the heart chakra.

 Sunday 2:00-5:00 Session

Going more deeply into integrative and nurturing breathing practices like Anuloma Viloma and Brahmaree

Hatha-Raja class: Discovering bliss through the sound of the bees, including 15-minute meditation. Theme: 3rd eye and crown.

An astoundingly beautiful practice, meditative and deeply opening, a beautiful finale to this astounding workshop.

Give up the Love of Power for the Power of Love
A back bending workshop with Emma Henry
Cost - $49
Anahata Chakra is where we cultivate feelings of compassion towards others. It’s also where we hold feelings towards those who have hurt us, whom we continue to carry in our hearts until we are ready to forgive them. The practice of backbends opens up the heart chakra and helps to release those emotions and heal feelings of hurt.

On a physical level backbends stimulate the central nervous system, boost immune system, realign and increase mobility in the spinal column, open the hips, strengthen and stretch the legs. Other benefits include increasing the flow of blood, massaging the vital organs and glands as well as loosening the joints.
Backbends boost energy levels and relieve tensions stored in the muscles.

Many of us find back-bends challenging both physically and mentally. In this workshop we will explore the balance between the effort and grace in back-bending,
Join Emma in this practical 2.5 hour workshop that will move through playful back bends as well as pranayama and meditation targeting Anahata

SUNDAY 9th February 10am - 12.30
Lets Twist again

Cost - $49
Feel freshly wrung out, detoxified and invigorated from this 2.5 hour Jivamukti masterclass with Emma Henry

Besides restoring your spine’s natural range of motion, the parivritta (twisting) action opens the nadis (energy channels), deeply cleanses the organs and stimulates circulation bringing rejuvenation, clarity and balance into the body and the manipura chakra.
Digestive problems, eating disorders, feeling like a victim, or experiencing low self-esteem can all be indications of a deficient third chakra.
Perfectionism, anger, hatred, and too much emphasis on power, status, and recognition reveal an excessive third chakra.
When you feel disempowered or in need of re-energizing, twisting poses fan the flames of your inner fire and restore vitality.
Booking is essential as these workshops are gold dust.

Join Pashenka to discover more about the Jivamukti Yoga method in this invigorating and flowing 2 hour workshop, where we will explore the 5 tenets of Jivamukti Yoga - non-harming, scripture, devotion, deep inner listening and meditation.

Pashenka is an advanced certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher. Originally from Sydney, she is currently based at the Jivamukti Yoga centre in London, UK.

She began practicing yoga asana in 1996 as a way to help her transition from the world of classical ballet to university (where she studied to become a speech pathologist). The profound physical, mental and emotional effects this had, left her curious and keen to find out more. This interest has been nurtured through the Jivamukti Yoga Centre London, The Jivamukti Yoga Teacher Training Program and her apprenticeship with cat alip-douglas.

Pashenka embraces the journey of teaching Jivamukti Yoga and hopes to selflessly serve and inspire students to take the leap and view yoga as more than movements on the mat…to be the positive change in the world.

Jivamukti Yoga is a method of yoga that was created by David Life and Sharon Gannon in 1984, which reintegrates the physical, philosophical and spiritual aspects of Yoga. The emphasis in the west has been on Yoga as mostly a physical practice. More and more people are achieving firmer bodies through regular yoga classes. But many are finding something more: what starts out as a purely physical practice creeps into the hearts and minds of even the least spiritual practitioners.

"Edo and Jo's soothing kirtan sound lifts the spirit and soothes the soul. Avid travellers and philanthropists, their journey takes them to yoga retreats, studios, festivals, orphanages and hearts around the world." - For The Love of Yoga, L.A

Edo and Jo met in Bali at a yoga retreat and first connected through Kirtan. It was this sweet soul music that sparked a recognition of the eternal in each other. A vision was born in that moment that some day they would walk the path together, sharing the love of song and spirituality. Since then, magical adventures of music, yoga and seva (humanitarian service) have ensued. For the past six years they have toured extensively throughout Australia, India and Asia. Their live Kirtan and Sacred Sound Yoga (Nada Yoga Nidra) events are an organic and spontaneous process for emotional release, divine connection and inner transformation. Dedicated to conscious living they run events at yoga studios, retreats, festivals, yoga teacher trainings, temples, hospitals and orphanages worldwide.

Edo is an award-winning songwriter (APRA song of the year 2009) and his songs feature regularly in films, TV and on radio (with his bands Kahn Brothers and Gelbison). Jo is classically trained in flute and piano, and was a member of the Melbourne Symphonic Youth. Their music creates a magical journey of mystical mantras expressed in soothing and joyous folk-pop melodies. The marriage of lush vocal harmonies, rapturous rhythms and sweet devotion is like honey droplets for the soul.

Kirtan Alive, their first CD together, is a fusion of live kirtan, mantras and soothing chants for yoga, meditation and bhakti bliss. New CDs are in the making which include both Kirtan, Sacred Sound meditations, English folk-pop heart songs and solo projects. They have been featured in Australian Yoga Journal and Indian Link.
