What is the Shiva Shakti 30 Day Commitment?

Participants in the 30 Day Commitment dedicate themselves to practice yoga every day for 30 consecutive days.

Beginning with an opening meeting including a mindfulness workshop and yoga class, each week will take on a new theme and provide yogic principles for students to consider and work with on and off the mat.

Students are encouraged to practice a variety of our yoga styles on offer at the studio allowing for deeper exploration of ones self and an opportunity to cultivate mindful living.


Why participate in the 30 Day Commitment?

There are many reasons to participate in a 30 Day commitment.

The 30 day commitment provides participants with the support and motivation of the Shiva Shakti community. As a group, participants are united and driven by a common goal.

Yoga practice provides many benefits physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual. Yoga supports you in a transformative journey by bringing you insight into self – the workings of the body and mind.

The teachers at Shiva Shakti will provide you with the guidance to explore and develop your potential.


I will be away during the 30 Day Commitment. What happens if I miss a class?

You have a number of options if you miss a class.

Within the 30 days, 22 classes need to be completed at Shiva Shakti (a minimum 5 classes per week). The other 8 classes can be completed at other studios (maximum 4 classes to count towards commitment) or completed as part of a home practice (up to 4 classes completed as a home practice). 


Can I participate in a class at another studio to be counted for the commitment?

Yes, you can participate in up to 4 classes at another studio or up to 4 classes as a home practice. 


What if I have an existing monthly membership?

No problem. You will be able to put your existing membership on hold for the month. 


What if I am new to Shiva Shakti and am eligible for the new student $58 intro package?

We will still honour the new student rate of $58 for your 1st month unlimited after the challenge.

'Leap of Faith' Workshop with Erin Tetarenko

This workshop provides an incredible journey inwards. Within the workshop, you will have some time to clarify what’s truly important and what gives your life a sense of purpose. You will use this information to create clear intentions towards living a more fulfilling life and to explore the multiple pathways in which you may positively impact the world. Practical exercises are given to support you to build confidence and appropriate resources to overcome potential barriers and obstacles that prevent successful goal achievement. Following, you will have the opportunity to practice strategies to overcome limiting thoughts, challenging emotions, and reactive behaviours.

*The workshop described above is based on a holistic and integrative coaching approach that uses science and practice to help participants enhance their life experience, psychological skills, performance capacities and well-being. Participants will learn practical techniques and skills from current research in positive psychology, the science of human flourishing and optimal functioning, and Acceptance Commitment Training (ACT).

Each of the workshops in this series includes 60-90 minutes of detailed instruction on posture, movement and breathing by physiotherapist and yoga teacher, Simon Borg-Olivier, followed by a visually-instructed lead practice to music (no verbal instructions). You will develop a practical understanding of how to use yoga to maintain and enhance health and longevity. This course can help you move more effectively, become a better yoga practitioner, and can also help you teach yoga.

Simon Borg-Olivier MScBAppSc is a well-known Australian Yoga Teacher, Co-Director of Yoga Synergy and co-creator of online teacher training essentials. He teaches ways to free up your spine, energize and strengthen your body in a stress-free manner. He will teach you how to move your entire spine naturally in order to activate key energy centres for health and vitality. Natural movement of the spine also provides stability and nourishment to your joints and muscles, prevents and heals injuries, and relieves physical pain.

Energy Flow: Improving your Energy and Internal Health 


In this workshop, Simon will teach how to heal and nourish the body by improving the circulation of energy and information through the channels of the body. YogaSynergy is a traditional hatha yoga with an understanding from exercise-based physiotherapy that has unique muscle-control and breath-control techniques that help you efficiently communicate with any part of your body. These techniques can improve circulation and allow the joints and organs to function at their optimum health, thus effectively and efficiently leaving your feeling energized, nourished and healed. Techniques taught in this workshop help improve the digestion of food, absorption of nutrients, elimination of waste and stored toxins, and the health of the reproductive system.

Core Strength through Mobility: Improve your Movement Efficiency


In this workshop, you will learn to energise and strengthen the body while remaining calm. Simon will provide you with a clear understanding of the myths associated with developing core strength. Simon teaches special types of core stabilisation for the whole body that can stabilise and nourish your joints and muscles, prevent and heal injuries, and relieve physical pain. This practice allows you to remain calm by using diaphragmatic breathing to firm the abdomen through posture.

In this class we will explore oscillating movements, postures, mantra, and both dynamic and integrative pranayama techniques. The flow of the class will be particularly geared towards the theme of the Navel and Heart Chakras, and Fire and Air.

Discussion: The meaning of fire and light in yoga. Exploring what arose in the class, pranayama explanations, and the energetic doorway/movement from the navel to the heart chakra.

Join Pashenka to discover more about the Jivamukti Yoga method in this invigorating and flowing 2 hour workshop, where we will explore the 5 tenets of Jivamukti Yoga - non-harming, scripture, devotion, deep inner listening and meditation.

Pashenka is an advanced certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher. Originally from Sydney, she is currently based at the Jivamukti Yoga centre in London, UK.

She began practicing yoga asana in 1996 as a way to help her transition from the world of classical ballet to university (where she studied to become a speech pathologist). The profound physical, mental and emotional effects this had, left her curious and keen to find out more. This interest has been nurtured through the Jivamukti Yoga Centre London, The Jivamukti Yoga Teacher Training Program and her apprenticeship with cat alip-douglas.

Jo is classically trained in flute and piano, and was a member of the Melbourne Symphonic Youth. Their music creates a magical journey of mystical mantras expressed in soothing and joyous folk-pop melodies. The marriage of lush vocal harmonies, rapturous rhythms and sweet devotion is like honey droplets for the soul. 

Kirtan Alive, their first CD together, is a fusion of live kirtan, mantras and soothing chants for yoga, meditation and bhakti bliss. New CDs are in the making which include both Kirtan, Sacred Sound meditations, English folk-pop heart songs and solo projects. They have been featured in Australian Yoga Journal and Indian Link.

Simon Borg-Olivier MScBAppSc(Physiotherapy) will lead a 3 hour workshop style class on Pranayama (yogic breath-control). You will be shown simply to complex breath patterns that can enhance your health and longevity as well improve your yoga or exercise practice. You will by shown the key to easily to controlling your appetite by reducing the net amount of air you breathe. Techniques to be taught include abdominal (diaphragmatic) breathing, chest (thoracic) breathing, complete yogic breathing, spinal breathing, complete body breathing, bandhas, nauli, lauliki, bhastrika and kumbhaka (breath retentions).

Breathing for Maximum Health (with Roger Price and Simon Borg-Olivier)
1.30 - 4.30pm Monday 

Experienced respiratory physiologist and breathing therapist Roger Price will lead a 3 hour lecture workshop on the essential things you need to know and do to ensure you are breathing correctly in your yoga or exercise as well as in every day life in order to ensure maximum health. This very practical information can really change your life and the way you approach yoga and exercise. No special abilities are necessary for you to attend this workshop. It can be beneficial to everyone, including those with medical conditions, and delivers very important information for anyone teaching yoga or exercise.
